The traditions of Theta Sigma Tau
Pledge Songs

Since the fall of 1988, every semester in which the House had pledges there was a Pledge song. The Pledge Song was chosen by the active members of the house during the Activation Meeting held at the end of the pledge period. The song was usually chosen to reflect something about the nature or feel that the actives have for the pledge class. Sometimes a song was chosen to taunt the pledges a bit, sometimes a song was chosen because, taunting aside, it seemed to fit the class very well.

The pledges don't find out what their pledge song is immediately. During the Activation Party, the pledge songs for all previous pledge classes are played, with the newest played at the very end. It adds a little sense of suspense to the party and entertainment when the no-longer-pledges hear "their" song for the first time. In latter years, because of the very large number of pledge songs, older pledge songs were only played when members of that song's pledge class were present.

If you follow this link (you must have a password to go here) you will find a listing of all of the pledge songs, in order, since the tradition's inception. This list is password protected because the pledges are not permitted to know anything about the list until the night they activate.
